• 1500+ defense tech companies supported
• 3400+ solutions registered
• Hundreds codified according to NATO standards and used at the battlefield
Ukraine faces an adversary with significant numerical advantage in both manpower and firepower. Our strategy relies on technological superiority to counter this imbalance. Each innovation we help to develop multiplies the effectiveness of our defenders, allowing them to achieve more with limited resources.
Defense innovations directly protect those defending Ukraine. Advanced drones provide reconnaissance, logistics and fire support without risking personnel, EW and other counter-drone systems protect critical infrastructure, and improved communications enable faster response to threats and improved security. These technologies translate directly to reduced casualties.
Many defense innovations will have valuable civilian applications after victory. Drone delivery systems, advanced communications networks, AI-based intelligence solutions are already showing promise for post-war applications.
Supporting Ukraine's defense innovation strengthens security across Europe. The technologies we help to develop and field-test create a stronger defense ecosystem that benefits all European nations facing similar security challenges. Your support helps build collective security.
Here is the breakdown for our key areas of investment in 2024:
UAVs are the most developed area in defense tech at the moment, with over 500 companies working on 1000+ solutions. UAVs have become bread and butter of the modern war, providing reconnaissance, destroying Russian armor and manpower and more.
UGVs have the potential to be a gamechanger as it can replace soldiers on the battlefield, countering Russia's advantages in personnel and firepower, and saving Ukrainian lives.
Secure and stable communication is a key to winning any war. We support revolutionary ideas in this area that can propel Ukraine to victory.
Other important areas include EW and missiles

Russians often use reconnaissance drones for missile strikes in the Ukrainian rear. Our efforts of supporting Ukrainian developers resulted in the development of interceptor drones in 2024 that are capable of destroying Russian reconnaissance drones like the Orlan and Zala, significantly hindering Russia's precision strike capabilities. Some of these developments are already codified according to NATO standards.
Artificial intelligence is already widely used on the battlefield in Ukraine, with us supporting over 200 AI-driven
innovations. Its use ranges from analyzing photo and video data, gathered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the
battlefield through intelligence military systems to AI-powered drones capable of hitting targets even under electronic
warfare (EW) interference.
At the start of the Russian invasion, we had close to zero number of UGVs developers. In 2023, we started developing this area, quickly recognising the potential. At the moment we have over 200 companies working in the area, with 300+ solutions, 40+ of which are codified according to NATO standards
